De-clutter, Small spaces

De-cluttering Tips

Own vs borrow: If you are short on space, it's essential to evaluate your belongings and consider what items you truly need to own. Practicing a bit of ruthlessness can go a long way in preventing unnecessary clutter. For instance, instead of purchasing a large item that takes up precious space, but that you don't use that often, consider borrowing or renting on an as-needed basis. For example, I rent a cooling fan for a few weeks each summer (I live in Ireland where homes don't have air-conditioning). Many companies offer a wide range of equipment to rent, allowing you to access what you need without the burden of storage. This approach not only saves space but also promotes sustainability.

One In, One Out Policy: While clever storage solutions can significantly help in decluttering, adopting a mindset of minimalism is equally important. Before acquiring new items, consider implementing a "one in, one out" policy. When you bring something new into your home, make a conscious effort to let go of an existing item. Selling or donating unwanted items means they'll actually get used rather than taking up valuable storage space!
